Web Standards
The code of the DSV site is up to the XHTML 1.1-Strict spec. If you find anything that is not, please let us know. The presentation is being handled through CSS 2. Our news is also provided through a valid RSS Feed. Dynamic content is inserted into every page using PHP with a MySQL backend. The PHP code conforms to DreamScape Visionery, LLC's PHP Coding Standard.
Every attempt has been made to make the site render properly in all modern browsers, yes even IE 6, without sacrificing standards validation. Transparent PNG files are used as the format of choice. IE 6 users will not see the site as it was intended as a result of this design choice. We highly recommend upgrading to a standards compliant, modern browser to visit this site. May we suggest Safari or Firefox?
Fonts
To see this site as it was intended, you will need Adobe's Myriad Pro for general text, Warnock Pro for “fancy&rdquot; text and DejaVu Sans Mono for monospace (code) text. Fallback options for general text include are Helvetica Neue, Helvetica and Arial. Fallback options for “fancy” text include Goudy Old Style, Palatino and Book Antiqua. Fallback options for monospace (code) text include Andale Mono and Lucida Console.
Software
The graphics for DSV were hand-crafted using Adobe Photoshop CS3 on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. CSS was edited using MacRabbit's CSSEdit 2. All XHTML and PHP code was drafted using Macromates' TextMate. The web server used is Apache on Debian Linux.
